Lately, I've been asking a lot of questions.
That's what you do when you meet new people; right? But I've never been a big fan of the question asking process. I think that's because, as a pageant girl, I was coached on how to tell people exactly what they wanted to hear. I think we all are to some extent. Our life experiences and people's reactions give us clues to what we should share and what we should keep to ourselves. So when I ask people questions I rarely take their answers at face value.
I'm the sort of person that prefers to do life with people. I'd much rather observe actions than listen to scripted answers. True character speaks for itself. Now don't get me wrong I love hearing people's stories. I love learning what makes them tick. Nevertheless I find quickly averted eyes or a barely noticeable shrug of the shoulders tells more than words ever could. So if we ever find ourselves in conversation please excuse my awkward stares. I'm just taking it all in.
